The extension and improvement of nursing and care homes represents an area of our work which has covered the length and breadth of the country. Careful attention to detail has provided enhanced accommodation and comfort for the elderly and an increase in capacity as demand has risen. Even where site areas are not extensive much can be achieved by practical planning and innovative design. Nursing homes are often conversions of large Victorian or Edwardian houses and our extensions have been sensitively designed to harmonise with the existing building and to create a safe and comfortable environment for both residents and staff.
The practice has been involved both with NHS work and nursing homes of various types. The NHS work has primarily comprised alterations and extensions to health centres and doctors' surgeries in North Hertfordshire and Luton.
The nursing homes have been spread all over the country from Fareham in the south to Kendal in the north and from Wisbech in the east to Taunton in the west. This work has involved setting up contracts in distant locations by finding the right construction team in the locality. Most of these projects have involved substantially extending the size and capacity of the homes, and upgrading facilities to current standards, to cater for their speciality of care.
